This evening Matthew announced that he will no longer be an active, full-time member of Autonomy. The local shows that we have announced through June will be his last performances as a live, full-time guitarist. We very much appreciate all that he's done for the group over the past 9 months and look forward to continuing our collaboration with him to whatever degree he chooses.
Taking Matthew's full-time position on the guitar will be Taylor Sprehe. Taylor has already been working with us as a non-live guitarist for nearly a month; he will be the guitarist on our upcoming west coast tour.
Does any one know the reason behind not being an active member of Autonomy ?

Matthew gracefully let us know that he no longer wants to have to concern himself with the non-creative aspects of being in Autonomy (I.E. performing, touring, recording, etc.). As we are preparing to become more active, he hopes that by stepping to the side now it will allow us to continue to move at the pace we are currently at. As close friends of his we know that this was not an easy decision for him to make. He simply wants to make music, not necessarily be in a "band." As of now he plans to continue to write music with us, but after June 1st he will no longer be performing live or on recordings. This situation may change in the future. He will continue to be involved with Autonomy to whatever degree he feels comfortable.
